Did you know that 80% of blindness in the region we work in is avoidable or preventable? Despite this figure, primary ophthalmic screening services are often under-funded across the world. This is particularly true in Palestinian territories and is aggravated by access issues and restriction of movement in both the West Bank and Gaza.
Every day St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group transforms the lives of those suffering with eye impediments in a region that has experienced decades of conflict and inequality. Our outreach teams allow us to reach the most marginalised communities and we treat all patients who walk through our hospital doors regardless of their ethnicity, religion or ability to pay.
