The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, Lord Bishop of London, visited St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group last week.

Bishop Sarah was welcomed by the Senior Management team and Mr. Peter Khoury, Director of Finance, provided a presentation about the mission, vision and the charitable work of St. John Eye Hospital amidst the challenges facing accessibility to eye care in Palestine.

The presentation also tackled the achievements of SJEHG in 2021, amidst as the single largest, and only charitable, provider of expert eye care in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem, treating patients regardless of ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay.

As a former nurse, Bishop Sarah expressed her admiration for the work carried out by St. John Eye Hospital, especially in reaching out to the most marginalized and vulnerable communities and improving access to sustainable eye care services throughout the Palestinian Territories.

The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE was installed as the 133rd Bishop of London at St Paul’s Cathedral on 12th May 2018.
