Stability has been achieved on the financial front, and solid progress made in many other areas within the Group. There have been feelings of joy, deep sadness, frustration, heartache and occasional disappointment. Overall there have been many more positive vibrations than negative! It’s good to move forward, together.
June was a particularly difficult month with two members of our ECHO Outreach Team being involved in a serious road traffic accident. At the time of writing it is hoped one of the nurses will resume duties very soon; the other, hopefully early in the New Year.
Elsewhere within this publication, our Chairman will pay tribute to Mr. Robert Krehl, who sadly passed away in August. Not only was Robert a dedicated Trustee and benefactor, he was a special friend and a unique human being.
Our Matron, Mrs. Jackie Jaidy, has retired, having dedicated 31 years of service to the Hospital Group: A remarkable achievement and we all wish her well in her busy retirement! We are delighted with the appointment of Mr. Ahmed Ma’ali as Director of Nursing, and I take this opportunity of wishing him every success in his new role.
During the year, we have received our usual large influx of visitors to the main Hospital in Jerusalem – many in groups from around the globe, organised by the Order of St. John. Our visiting volunteer doctors continue to provide valuable assistance in all areas of our work and we are indebted to them for giving us their time, energy and enthusiasm.
Finally – as always – I would like to sincerely thank all our donors for their unwavering support, particularly during these difficult financial times: You make such a difference to the lives of so many.
CEO, Rod Bull
