FUNDRAISING APPEAL 2009
STAFF SPONSORSHIP
The mission of The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group is to provide ophthalmic care of the highest quality and relevance to the people of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and
We are totally reliant on our professional and dedicated team of 216 staff, all of whom ensure that the best possible care is given to those who need it most, the patients who rely on us to. In 2008 we were able to improve eyesight and therefore provide a better quality of life to 94,426 men, women and children in the
Staff costs are approximately 60% of our overall charity expenditure, from ancillary staff to our nurses and doctors. In 2009 this cost will be £3,827,800 and we must raise funds to cover this.
In 2009 supporters can assist us by either giving a one off donation towards our General Staff Fund or those able can commit to our Staff Sponsorship Scheme. Raising funds for our staff costs brings us closer, in a personal way, to our supporters, who are then directly championing those who are performing the vital humanitarian services that our charity provides.
General Staff Fund
We aim to raise a minimum of £100,000 in 2009 to enable us to establish a General Staff Fund. This fund can then be used to cover vital staff costs as and when required. This is of particular importance during the current bleak economic crisis when there is global financial uncertainty. Those who donate to this fund will receive an annual update on the development of this Fund and how their donation is being used. All donations, large or small, are important.
Staff Sponsorship Scheme
Committing to the funding of a specific staff post is a wonderful way to support the work of our charity. We ask that those able to consider this option give a 3 year commitment that is reviewed on an annual basis. We provide annual updates on the staff member whose post has been funded. Long-term staff sponsorship makes a difference to the lives and morale of our staff and also their extended families. Below are some examples of the levels of staff sponsorship that we seek.
