George Klat runs the Marathon du Mont-Blanc

The Eye Hospital Group is most grateful to supporter George Klat, who will run the Marathon du Mont-Blanc to raise funds for our charity on 27th June.  Here, he talks a little about this amazing prospect.

“Starting from Chamonix on the 27th June, the Mont-Blanc marathon is an arduous trail run over forty two kilometres.  Reaching an altitude of 2200m with a total of 2511 metres of vertical gain and 1490 metres of descent, this marathon is a daunting prospect for me.  However, the thought of running in clear mountain air through an alpine nature reserve in view of the highest mountain in Europe is also very exciting.  I have overcome trouble with torn muscles and tendons but now I feel ready to meet the challenge.

I am proud to be able to raise money for the Jerusalem Eye Hospital by taking part in this event.  Part of my motivation to run is personal as it will be a real thrill; but to run to alleviate other peoples’ suffering, with the generosity of all my friends and family who are willing to donate to this good cause is very humbling and an even greater motivation. Please donate generously!”
